Bishop Glenn Davies has been elected as
the new Archbishop of Sydney.

Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, Dr Philip Freier, has today welcomed the election of Bishop Glenn Davies as the 12th Archbishop of Sydney.
“On behalf of Melbourne Anglicans I welcome Archbishop Davies’ appointment, and assure him of our prayers and good wishes as he begins this important ministry in Sydney and the Anglican Church of Australia.
“Archbishop Davies is already known and widely respected for his contribution to the life of the national church, as a member of General Synod since 1996, and the General Synod Standing Committee since 2007; and as a member of the General Synod Doctrine Commission since 1993. He was also appointed as Canon Theologian in the Diocese of Ballarat in 2000.
“I have worked closely with Dr Davies on the Doctrine Commission and respect his intellect and willingness to engage in genuine theological dialogue.
“I wish Archbishop Davies every blessing as he takes up the vital task of advancing the Kingdom of God and the mission of the Church, and commending the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Sydney and NSW.”
