In his Easter Day Sermon, Dr Aspinall said that a balanced view of Church includes both an honest assessment of its failures and an understanding of the vital community contributions made by Church people.

"In parish churches across Brisbane, Australia and the world, people will today become Christians.

"We shared in that joy here this Cathedral, with the Baptism of Joshua and Camilla, and earlier this morning the Confirmation of Mark.

"To hear the promises ‘I turn to Christ’; ‘I repent of my sins’; ‘I reject selfish living and all that is false and unjust’ and ‘I renounce all that is evil’ is a wonderful thing.

"The church these people enter today is often caricatured. The truth is much bigger."
