Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, Dr Philip Freier, has condemned the “shocking and mindless violence” of the recent bomb attack on an Anglican Church in Peshawar in Pakistan, in which 85 Christians were killed, and is inviting Melburnians to a special service of prayer and meditation for healing and peace on Sunday 29 September at 2pm in St Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne.

“We are aware from our parishes that a number of Melbourne people have lost loved ones in this terrible act of violence after worship last Sunday at All Saints Church, Peshawar,” Dr Freier said.

“Our hearts go out to all those who are grieving, and welcome those in Melbourne, along with their families and friends, to this simple service on Sunday”.

The Right Revd Philip Huggins, Bishop of the North and West Region of the Diocese of Melbourne, will lead the service.
