Most Archdeacons assist their Assistant Bishop with the general oversight of a group of parishes in that particular episcopate. This includes property, finance, legal and staffing issues.


Sometimes Archdeacons will be appointed to a particular ministry area, such as the Archdeacon for Parish Partnerships.


Archdeacons are part of the Diocesan Senior Staff team chaired by the Archbishop, and the Diocesan Building Committee.
