​A large number of asylum seekers settle in the Dandenong area and many are assisted by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Dandenong.

The Dandenong Archdeaconry is part if the Jumbunna Episcopate and spreads from bayside Mentone to Endeavour Hills to Oakleigh, and includes long settled suburbs as well as growth corridors and some of the most multicultural communities in the nation.

The following parishes are part of the Dandenong Archdeaconry: Beaumaris, Black Rock, Brighton, Brighton Beach, Cheltenham, Clayton, Dandenong (St James’), Dandenong (ST Michael and St Luke), Dingley, Endeavour Hills, Gardenvale, Hampton, Mentone, Moorabbin, Mordialloc, Mulgrave, Noble Park, Oakleigh (Holy Trinity), Oakleigh (Emmanuel), Parkdale, Sandringham, Springvale, Wheelers Hill.

The Venerable Jeffrey Parker was appointed Archdeacon in December 2016. Jeff is the Vicar of Dandenong.
