The Diocese of Melbourne engages 15 Examining Chaplains from a diverse background.

Each Examining Chaplain has an active role in helping to discern, select, and encourage people in their journey towards ordination.

At different times they are called upon to act as mentor, friend and advisor to the person seeking ordination and to help them prepare for the different stages and roles that they will undertake as they progress from Aspirant, Diocesan Candidate, Ordinand through to Ordination as an Anglican Clergy person.

They are also involved in programming and running the various training programs that each person undertakes once they are ordained.
