Prayer for this season

As Melbourne Synod prepares to consider For the harvest, please pray for wisdom, humility and attentiveness to the Holy Spirit. 

Please pray: 

  • for Archbishop Ric and all who will lead and contribute 
  • for Synod members as they read, listen, pray and consider the motion 
  • for unity in Christ across the breadth of the Diocese 
  • for courage to respond where change is needed 
  • for clarity about God’s call to mission across Melbourne and Geelong 
  • that the life and work of the Diocese would remain rooted in Christ

2 Corinthians 1:10-11 

Reflection 

In a time of hardship, the apostle Paul asked God’s people to pray. He knew that prayer was not a side issue. Through prayer, God strengthens, encourages and sustains those who serve him. 

As a Diocese, we are entering a significant season of discernment. We need more than good planning or careful discussion. We need the wisdom God gives. 

Please pray for Archbishop Ric, the bishops, archdeacons and all who carry responsibility for leadership in this season. Pray that God will give wisdom, humility, courage and clarity as we listen for his leading together.

Pause 

Be still before God. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your prayer. 

Rejoice 

Thank God for leaders who have been entrusted with the care of the Church. Give thanks for a leader, pastor, lay minister or mentor who has blessed your life or ministry. 

Ask 

Ask God to give wisdom, strength and insight to those leading the Diocese in this season. Pray for Archbishop Ric, the bishops, archdeacons and all who are preparing for Melbourne Synod

Yield 

Entrust the leaders, churches and fruit of this season to God’s care.
